New to running a Shopify store? Don't be afraid to use filters! Filters are a fantastic tool that helps your customers find products easily. Imagine you're selling watches – you can create filters for things like brand, price, and more.

In this guide, we'll show you how to create and manage filters step by step. It's a simple way to make your store better. Let's dive in!

Types of Filters:

Now, let's talk about the types of filters you can use:

Standard Filters: These are the basics that all stores get. They help your customers find products based on common things like:

  • Product availability (Is it in stock or not?)
  • Price (Important: The price filter only shows for customers using the same currency as your store's main currency)
  • Vendor (Who makes the product?)
  • Product type (What category does it belong to?)
  • Tags (Keywords to describe the product)

Custom Filters: These are the fun ones you can tailor to your specific products. You can create them in two ways:

  1. Using product variant options: For example, if you sell clothes with different sizes, you can add a "Size" filter.
  2. Using metafields: This is more advanced but allows you to get super creative. If you sell toys, you could make a custom "Age" filter to help parents find the right toys for their kids.

To begin creating filters, follow these steps:

Step 1: Installing Search & Discovery App from Shopify App Store

Go to "Settings" to access all your installed apps and visit the Shopify App Store.
